Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard [Version 6.1.7601] running Oracle Release 11.2.0.1.0, throws the following Windows system log error message on a daily basis requiring a system reboot to recover.

Error 2/8/2018 7:09:53 AM Service Control Manager 7034 None
Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Date: 2/8/2018 7:09:53 AM
Event ID: 7034
Task Category: None

Description:
The OracleServiceTMTDB service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

There is no visible entry in the alert_tmtdb.log prior to the noted error event. The abridged alert_tmtdb.log is attached as Abridged-alert-tmtdb-log-2018.txt.

The server is a Dell system with a single Xeon CPU E5620 @2.40 GHz and installed Memory of 16.0 GB which was instanced proximate to 2/14/2012.

The Windows Server Application Log included the following entry of note:
Information 2/7/2018 9:51:51 AM Oracle.tmtdb 34 None

A Google search located references to a prior issue with Oracle TMTDB VSS Writer Service. The server in question has the service set to Manual and it is stopped. The same article also referenced a resource depletion issue. The server in question has 16 GB of main memory and a spot check of performance showed 4 GB of memory explicitly allocated to Oracle and approximately 12 GB available during normal operations. No time correlated sample has been obtained yet.

What is the recommended approach to resolving this problem?

IMO, Oracle is the victim; not the culprit.
Root cause & fix are external to Oracle at OS or hardware level.
I surmise that this system is configured to restart Oracle database after system bootup. Is this correct?

>Error 2/8/2018 7:09:53 AM Service Control Manager 7034 None
The error above is logged more than 1 hour before Oracle reports it is restarting

Thank you very much for your prompt response. You are likely right that it is OS and/or hardware related but I do not want my possible ignorance to be the cause of unnecessary consternation or expense.
Yes, the system restarts Oracle on reboot. Only one reboot per day seems to be required. However, typically the reboot is required at least 30 minutes after end users successfully start exercising the system for the day. I would normally expect that a fault which occurs over 6 hours earlier that was the proximate cause of failure would not allow any successful access prior to the reboot of the server and restart of Oracle.

Oracle log shows NO activity between 02:00 & 08:29:48

IMO, Windows had some catastrophic failure closer to 08:29 than 02:00.

Root cause & fix are at OS or hardware level.
If you wish to continue to waste your time looking into Oracle for problem & resolution; you are certainly free to do so.

It appears that both hardware & OS are 10+ years old & are past due to be upgraded.
IMO, the system hardware is flakey & needs to be replaced or it needs Windows patch to stop it from malfunctioning.

This pattern appears several times in the file, search for previous same error in Windows system log.
Also search for trace files at about the time the service shuts down.

But I agree with BlackSwan, Oracle does not stop the service, in any case I know, so problem seems external to Oracle.

I also advise you to set registry parameters:
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWN -> TRUE
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT -> say 90 seconds
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWNTYPE -> -> immediate
See https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/win.112/e10845/admin.htm#CDCHAAHB
Or using ORADIM, see https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/win.112/e10845/admin.htm#NTQRF215

Thanks to Michel Cadot and BlackSwan for your replies. After a line-by-line review of the Windows logs over an extended time frame, I found a portable drive that appears to be failing that was part of a database backup sequence. It has been removed from the system and we are monitoring to see if the hard drive controller errors return. If they do the existing equipment will be retired as soon as possible.

The problem does seem to be somewhere at the hardware or the operating system to me as well...
I could be wrong though so, pardon me if I got it wrong.
Cheers.
